Our Mission & Values

OUR MISSION

The purpose of the Black Student Alliance at Virginia Tech is to promote a greater understanding of black culture among students, employees, and community members at Virginia Tech. This will occur through the presentation of diverse programs that showcase the educational and artistic contributions of African Americans.

OUR VALUES

• Collaboration
  We seek to create partnerships with Virginia Tech student organizations, offices, departments, and within the Blacksburg community

• Community
  Our goal is to create a sense of belonging for students by creating a space for expression and social engagement within Black culture

• Enrichment
  We want to enrich the educational experience of all Virginia Tech students on Black culture on this campus, using our events as a medium, through entertainment and education

• Innovation
  We will design, promote, and support positive programming

• Inclusion
  We are accepting of all individual members, student body, alumni, and campus partners. The Black Student Alliance will not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, color, religion, gender, age, ability, veteran status, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

  We will promote service, civic, and community engagement through programming for the Virginia Tech community on Black culture.
